Be Filled

Come, Be Filled

Call to Worship

From Psalm 145

Leader: The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Congregation: The LORD is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.

Leader: The LORD upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.

Congregation: The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.

Leaders: You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.

Congregation: The LORD is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.

Leaders: The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Congregation: He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.

Leaders: The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

Congregation: With our mouths, we will speak the praise of the LORD, and we will all bless his holy name forever and ever.

Songs of Praise – Mighty to Save/The Goodness of Jesus

Prayer of Confession

Oh Lord, we know that you are full of compassion and that you offer only that which satisfies. We hear you call to us to come to you so that we might not lack anything but be filled with the blessings of your abundant goodness. So often we turn away from your voice and listen to the lures and lies of this world. We even trade that which you have graciously given to us in exchange for the empty cares of this life. You are so good to us, and yet we turn away from you searching for that which will not satisfy. Lord, we come to you with nothing in our hands asking for your forgiveness and mercy. Fill us, Lord, and bless us for your name sake. Amen.

Song of Confession – Rock of Ages

Assurance of Pardon

Reading of the Scriptures – Romans 9:1-5

I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith – Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
