Songs of Praise – Taste and See (Psalm 34)/ 10,000 Reasons

Reading of the Psalms – Psalm 107:1-7, 33-37 (ESV)

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground, a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants. He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water. And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.

Prayer of Confession

In every season, God of love and goodness, your steadfast love sustains us. You have brought us here, invited us to become a community of faith, called us to remember that we live and breathe only by the power of your grace in our lives. In this season of harvest, our hearts are full of gratitude for what your hand has so generously provided us. On this day of promise, then, we look to the future with hope, opening ourselves to your Spirit at work in our lives. Be present with us this day and in this time of worship, we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Songs of Reflection – Christ is Mine Forevermore

Reading of the Scriptures – 1 Thessalonians 2:9-13

For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers. For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory. And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
