He is Risen

Easter Sunday

He is RISEN!!

He is Risen Indeed!

Today we celebrate the foundation of all that we believe and hope for — the resurrection from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15 says that if Christ has not been raised, then our faith is futile and we are still in our sins. In Adam we have all died, but in Jesus Christ all that believe will be made alive. Jesus is the hope of our resurrection. This day, we celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Order of Service

Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed

Call to Worship

This is the good news — the grave is empty; Christ is risen. Hallelujah!!

This is the good news — the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never put it out.  Hallelujah!!

This is the good news — once we were no people; now we are God’s people. Hallelujah!!

Christ is our peace, the indestructible peace we now share with each other. Hallelujah!!

Christ the Lord is Risen Today

Reading of the Scriptures

Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24

Living Hope

Prayer of Confession

Almighty God, in raising Jesus from the grave, you shattered the power of sin and death. We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear, bound by the ways that lead to death. We overlook the poor and hungry and pass by those who mourn; we are deaf to the cries of the oppressed and indifferent to calls for peace; we despise the weak and abuse the earth you made. Forgive us, God of mercy. Help us to trust your power to change our lives and make us new, that we may know the joy of life abundant given in Jesus Christ, the risen Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Hear the Word of the Lord from Colossians 2:

Let thoWhen you were dead in trespasses, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it.

In the Risen Lord, God sets us free! In Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.
