Our celebration of the resurrection of Jesus begins a whole week before Easter with Palm Sunday. At Redeemer Church and in many churches, these special events on the church calendar are times we pause to remember the story of Christ’s final days.

The week of Easter is usually referred to as the Passion Week. This year we will be gathering together with a couple other local churches to remember and celebrate these important “holy-days”. The churches that will be joining with us will be Alder Avenue Baptist Church (Fremont) and Hillview Baptist Church (Union City).

Here’s the some schedule info:

Palm Sunday March 28 @ 10:30am

Just a week before we Jesus was crucified, the Bible records for us that He fulfilled the prophesy from centuries before of THE King, the Son of King David, riding into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. The celebration of the Hebrew people resounded in the streets saying, “Hosanna! Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord! Even the King of Israel!” On this Sunday, Palm Sunday, we remember this event, and we celebrate Jesus, King of David – King of the World!

Maundy ThursdayApril 1 @ 7:00pm

In a special chamber, where the disciples would gather together with Jesus, often referred to as the “Upper Room” in the Scriptures, Jesus gives His disciples a new commandment to “love one another”. This Maundy Thursday service is a simple service centered around Christ’s love for us and our call to love one another. We will end with sharing in the Lord’s Table as the disciples did with Jesus that night long ago, and then we will sing a hymn and end the night in silent prayer.

Good FridayApril 2 @ 1:00 & 7:00pm

On Good Friday, we will hold two services. At 1:00 pm, we will take the time in the middle of the day to remember the significance of Christ’s death on the cross. This service will be a more simple service with a few songs, a few moments of meditation and prayer and a devotion from the Bible centered around the message of the cross and crucifixion of Christ.

In the evening at 7:00, our Good Friday service will be a little different than the afternoon service. We will hold a more classic service referred to as a Tenebrae service. This service will focus on the seven final words of Christ before His death. Seven short devotionals will be given from seven different local pastors/leaders. These devotionals will be accompanied by music and some reading of scriptures. The service will be about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Resurrection SundayApril 4 @ 10:30am

Easter Sunday – or as we like to call it, Resurrection Sundayat 10:30am, we will be celebrating the resurrection of Christ from the grave. The resurrection of Jesus is the centerpiece of our hope and life. Without the resurrection, we have no message to share with the world or cause to worship. Resurrection Sunday is the life blood of the Christian faith. More info is shared below regarding this service.

Redeemer Church (also Alder Avenue Baptist Church)
4111 Alder Ave
Fremont, CA 94536

If it’s your first time at Redeemer Fremont we are grateful you could join us. So that you know what to expect and how to plan, here are some quick questions and answers that might be helpful for you:

How long is the service?

Our Easter Sunday service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes. We will sing about three to four songs, followed by a Biblically-based message on the Resurrection from one of our pastors. Our service is « liturgy-lite » in that we follow traditional and ancient forms in our program with warmth and spontaneity. The service is crafted to be intentionally Christian but welcoming for all.

What should I wear?

You are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable, but most of our members dress casually. If you’re excited about a special Easter outfit or sporting that classic seersucker suit, that’s great! In that case, expect to be complimented for your smart fashion sense.

Can I attend if I’m _____________?

Fill in the blank with whatever fear you have about not being accepted: divorced, single parent, broke, an addict, a skeptic, etc. Redeemer is a place to be human, and we invite you to be human with us. Whatever your background, we’d love to welcome you!

Still Have Questions?

We’d love to answer them!
