At Redeemer we believe that the local church is God’s primary means to redeem the world to himself. It is our mission to launch a spiritually healthy, culturally indigenous, and financially sustainable church planting network in the Silicon Valley. There are some great churches in the Bay Area, but not enough to reach the growing and diverse population. Redeemer Church is a small body with a big vision. As a church plant ourselves, we have a vision to see a network of churches planted with a missionary DNA.
The Silicon Valley is considered one of the least churched metro areas of America. A Barna poll recently labeled the Bay Area as one of the most “post Christian” regions in the country. While one portion of the population is post-Christian, another portion of the population has never been evangelized. The area is home to at least 22 communities of unreached peoples with 11 of those completely unengaged with the gospel. The Silicon Valley has attracted people from all over the globe. The culture is inviting and diverse, but also without Christ.
Our strategy is simple. We want to engage the neighborhoods where we are planted with authentic gospel relationships. God has entrusted Redeemer with a handful of committed believers who are serious about showing the love of Christ in word and deed. We see our neighborhoods as our parish and our ministry engagement starting there. Redeemer has invested its resources not in church buildings, but in parish parsonages where small groups can gather and genuine Christian hospitality can flourish. Once a week we gather together from all over the Silicon Valley for a joint worship celebration around the Word of God and the Lord’s Supper.
God is bringing together some incredible resources for this ministry, but there are many ongoing needs:
- Pray–We are asking God to raise up a band of 1000 believers committed to pray for Redeemer Church and the work of the gospel in the Silicon Valley. If you are interested in joining our prayer team receiving regular updates you can sign up here.
- Give–The Silicon Valley is one of the most expensive areas of the country. The financial cost of doing ministry here is high. We are seeking $100,000 year in outside giving to help fund outreach, internships, and the cost of renting a facility. If you would like to give a one-time or recurring donation you can give here.
- Serve–Ministry is best done in teams. We are praying for individuals and families, committed to Christ and to the vision of church planting in the Silicon Valley that would move here, get jobs in the marketplace, and plug into the community. If you feel God may be leading you to join us, we’d love to hear from you.
We are privileged to have Scott as our Executive Director of Church Planting overseeing the vision of Redeemer Church.
Scott was born to a Christian family in Lacrosse, WI, where he put his faith in Christ at a young age and felt God’s call toward vocational ministry as a teenager.
A graduate from Northland International University (BA in Pastoral Studies), Scott earned his MA in biblical studies from Central Baptist Theological Seminary, his MBA from Cornerstone University, and is currently enrolled in Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry program, with an emphasis on missions.
Scott served as the executive vice president of Northland International University, and previously served as a pastor in Michigan. Scott and his wife Tara served as missionaries with ABWE in East Asia, where they worked with a Muslim people group and used a love of teaching and business-as-mission to start a new business venture. Most recently, Scott has been serving as Vice President of Mobilization and Communication for ABWE in Harrisburg, PA. As part of his role as Vice President he also co-hosts a growing podcast called The Missions Podcast.
